Then, ask them to look at the books and find which one they want to read next. Or, pre-select some books that you think they’ll like. Visit the beginning chapter book section in your library or bookstore. Sometimes interest in the book or topic is a great motivator. If your child is interested in a book, don’t get stuck in thinking they shouldn’t read it because of difficulty. It is OK to read books that are hard and that are easy. Remember, if your child really wants to read a book but it’s too challenging, you can save it for a later time when they’ve grown as a reader or use it ow as a read aloud choice.ģ.
